The journey from oncology nursing to palliative care has been life changing, both professionally and personally, for both Ms Harpreet and Ms Indu.
Ms Harpreet Kaur and Ms Indu Thakur have transitioned from being meek nurses who followed orders to now conducting their independent rounds, assessing and talking to those patients and families who are distressed.
They are a few of the strong pillars of Palliative Medicine at Max Hospital. Their gentle touch can soothe the howling of a patient who is in pain, while their smile can lighten and brighten a very distressed caregiver.
Their contribution is worth applauding due to their versatility to move seamlessly from providing individualised care for each of their patients’ while also being very meticulous while dispensing high alert medications such as opiods.
